THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

The Senior Scrum Master role is responsible for enabling UB Media teams to deliver products based on effective Lean-Agile principles and practices for Ulta Beauty’s retail media network, UB Media. The Senior Scrum Master will operate as a servant leader and coach for Agile teams. This role is responsible for facilitating various cross-team events and processes and assisting the teams in delivering value while managing risk, stakeholder communication, escalations and driving continuous improvement. In addition, the Senior Scrum Master will help evolve Agile by participating in coaching leaders, teams and scrum masters, and standardizing and documenting standards.

 

YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:  

Agile Leadership

  • Operate as a servant leader and coach with Lean-Agile mindset
  • Coach scrum masters, agile teams and leaders in evolving lean-agile paradigm and practices
  • Help the teams to adopt and practice Agile core values, principles and implement Agile practices
  • Work with the Transformation Office for program tracking and excellence in coordination with continuous business planning

 

Agile Teams Facilitation and Leadership

  • Work with product teams and other stakeholders to help in alignment of strategy and execution
  • Assist in prioritization decisions via facilitating teams in estimation of epics, features and capabilities
  • Plan and communicate annual calendars for program increments (PI) and sprints
  • Facilitate readiness for PI planning events via a continuous exploration process leveraging strategic priorities, roadmap and backlogs
  • Lead PI planning and periodic cross-team synchronization events such as scrum of scrums and system demos
  • Lead PI retrospectives to drive continuous learning and adapt
  • Promote collaboration among teams, solution architecture and IT/Technical teams
  • Provide input on resource capacity and skills to address bottlenecks
  • Assist in progress tracking of execution of features and capabilities
  • Manage risks, dependencies and impediment escalation and tracking

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement in terms of agile maturity and adoption across the enterprise
  • Foster communities of practice and adherence to quality practices
  • Help drive innovation cycle and improve practices in continuous delivery pipeline

 

ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, CIS, MIS or equivalent. Master’s degree a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in Agile environment operating as senior scrum master or release train engineer in complex and fast-paced environments
  • Relevant Agile certification, e.g., in Scrum, SAFe
  • Certification in project management
  • In-depth Knowledge of Agile principles and various agile frameworks such as Lean, Kanban, SAFe, XP
  • Program management experience in traditional waterfall across project identification, prioritization, budgeting, estimating, planning, resource management, risk management, tracking and change
  • Experience in eCommerce and supporting functions including omni-channel and personalization
  • Retail industry experience is a plus
  • Ability to apply systems thinking
  • Excellent ability to mentor and coach Agile teams with servant leadership principles
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills across Agile teams and Product/IT stakeholders
  • Ability to implement evolving lean and agile processes, tools and tactics
  • Experience with modern Agile tools such as JIRA
  • Advanced knowledge of system and software SDLC and PMO leading practices
  • Highest level of integrity and good judgment
  • Minimal travel required (training/conferences)
